What’s the difference? Do you need to be both?
Dedication means devoting your time, effort, and self to a particular thing. Whatever that thing is, you put in your effort to it, you do it daily or for a particular amount of time no matter what. Whether it’s a routine like meditation, going to church, practicing yoga etc.. You’ve chosen that thing because you either love it or know you need it, and stay true to the routine.
We prep our food for the week because we are dedicated to our health.
We go to the gym daily, because we are dedicated to that routine and know fitness is good for us.
We meditate because we are dedicated to practicing mindfulness.
BUT WHY?
What motivates us to do any of those things?
Motivation comes from incentive. So, in order to succeed at anything we need to know what motivates us. What is our “why”?
Everyone’s “why” is different.
Maybe you want to workout to look good naked.
Maybe you workout to keep up with your grandkids, or you train to be a competitive athlete. The magic of the motivation is in the results of those things. And the results ARE the motivation.
If you can’t pinpoint your motivation, your “why”, I encourage you to dig deep and ask yourself what it is you want out of whatever your goals are be it in the gym, work, or relationships.
They should set your soul on fire.
They should wake you up in the morning
And they should leave you wanting more at the end of the day.
Find out what your motivation is, and I bet you’ll stay dedicated to anything.
